ASIMO the Robot

A robot is a mechanical or virtual agent In practice, it is usually an electro-mechanical system which, by its appearance or movements, conveys a sense that it has intent or agency of its own. The word robot can refer to both physical robots and virtual software agents, but the latter are usually referred to as bots. There is no consensus on which machines qualify as robots, but there is general agreement among experts and the public that robots tend to do some or all of the following: move around, operate a mechanical arm, sense and manipulate their environment, and exhibit intelligent behavior, especially behavior which mimics humans or animals.

ASIMO
(アシモ ashimo) is a humanoid robot created by Honda Robot Company. Standing at 130 cm (4ft 3inches) and weighing 54kgs (119 pounds). The robot resembles a small astronaut wearing a backpack and can walk or run on two feet at speeds up to 6km/h(4.3 mph). ASIMO was created at Honda's Research & Development Wako Fundamental Technical Research Center in Japan. It is the current model in a line of eleven that began in 1986 with EO.

Officially, the name is an acronym for "Advanced Step in Innovative MObility". Honda's official statements claim that the robot's name is not a reference to science fiction writer and inventor of the Three Laws of Robotics, Isaac Asimov.

As of 2007, there are 46 ASIMO units in existence.

Distributor Automation Via Internet (DAVI)

DAVI - Distributor Automation Via Internet. This is just a part of my many to-do in my all-around work in a not-so small business since our operation involves 70 trade and 2o plus farm accounts.

Duplication Again Via Internet (DAVI), that is what i most of the time think. Why? I am to submit a daily Sell-Out-Volume and Inventory to the Sales Office os SanMiguel Feeds,Inc.- Same report I should enter at DAVI. The company ofcourse have a very valid reason for that, i just sometimes feel like not doing it for many reason; (1) duplication of work, (2) our SOV and INV is so transparent for competitors to see, that is in the case of multi-branded distributors, (3) Market penetration is laid out, it sometimes invites if not encourage encrouchment, (4) Trade Receivable is out in the open, it's like you'll have nothing to hide with the company but it's not like we're hiding anything, just that i dont find the importance of putting our trade receivable here. I mean for the distributor's advantage because surely SanMiguel has good use to it.

Anyway these are merely an opinion. I love what i do and enjoy doing it... for now.

VX10000 Voyager

And here we think that only Nokia, Sony Erickson and Samsung are the best mobile phones in the world. Take a look at these LG Phones with their very own attributes and design...

The LG Voyager was released November 2007, with its profound design and features like that of the iPhone $300 is not bad at all. Actually according to ViewScore the LG Voyager wants to be an APPLE iPhone killer, and it could be the very first bona fide contender. It does plenty of things that the iPhone can't, and while it isn't perfect, for many users its shortcomings won't detract from the significant advantages over Apple's device. It packs in an amazingly vast array of features that includes 3G data, an auto-focus camera, true mobile TV, dual 2.8" displays, a full QWERTY keyboard, HTML Web browsing, Bluetooth® Capable, microSDTM Memory Port and the large external touchscreen.

The more you click the more you earn

The original content of this blog was in "Tagalog" but for a very important reason I have to edit it and have everything written in english instead.

In the case of the title of my post, I'd rather keep it that way and mention a bit about it.

Well, here is the sitch i had an adsense account several weeks ago, it was disabled for some significant reason. And that explains the absence of any ads by google in my page. In connection to the title itself however, my concern was actually about invalid clicks, i don't want that to happen here at my site given the chance of having adsense again. True, the more you click the more you'll earn.. but not through a fabricated clicks. Let things happen by itself.

ASSERTIVE COMMUNICATION

Are you the type of person who always say "yes" to your co-employees or to your superiors? If that is your problem, my friend, you need to learn how to communicate assertively. Here is a simple recipe for assertive communication.
  1. Only raise one issue at a time. Only raise one issue at a time so that your communication will be more focused.
  2. Resist the temptation to wound or score points. We have to understand that we assert ourselves. We communicate not to score points, not to wound or injure other people, we are communicating assertively because we believe that what we think our opinion is also of equal value with that of other people.
  3. Use “I” instead of “you.”
  4. Take out all inflammatory or emotive languages including always and never. Never say never. Take out the inflammatory or emotive f language. Be as objective as possible and never use weeping generalizations.
  5. Focus on the issue or the behavior and not the person.
  6. Explain the tangible or intangible effects the behavior has on others including you.
  7. Tell what you would like to see happen. It is not enough that you explain the situation. If you want to be assertive, if you want to be heard, tell what you would like to see happen.
  8. Listen and give others fundamental respect. If you want others to listen to you when you are talking, if you want others to value what you are saying, you should do likewise.
Encourage assertive communication and you will discover a lot of great ideas from your people.
Remember no one has the monopoly of all the knowledge and all the good ideas in the world, so start listening to your people and when you start listening, people will become braver and more courageous to assert themselves and communicate what they are thinking of.

Blogging

Many blogs provide commentary or news on a particular subject; others function as more personal online diary. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, Web pages and other media related to its topic. The ability for readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of many blogs. Most blogs are primarily textual, although some focus on art, photographs, sketches, videos, music, audio, which are part of a wider network of social media. Micro-blogging is another type of blogging, one which consists of blogs with very short posts. As of December 2007, blog search
engine technorati was tracking more than 112 million blogs. With the advent of video blogging, the word blog has taken on an even looser meaning — that of any bit of media wherein the subject expresses his opinion or simply talks about something.

PORTRAIT OF A KILLER

I'M A BIG FAN OF Patricia Cornwell, author of Portrait of a Killer : Jack the Ripper Case Closed, Unnatural Exposure, Cause of Death and the Last Precint to mention a few. Cornwell is a genius in creating a fine and convincing true-crime thriller, I even made a Jack-The-Ripper research myself and delve into the boigraphy of artist Walter Richard Sickert (while reading the book), she (Cornwell) made me so curious about Sickert for they were real murders by mutilation, it was a real case and Sickert was one real artist.

Walter Sickert (born May 31, 1860) works of art himself, blue eyes, and blond hair, symmetrical face, nice slender body, so the picture said.... Man of many talents, painter, an etcher, actor, writer, linguist and art criticwere enough to caught my attention. Not to mention, one of England's most important artists. These gave me all the reason to read the novel over and over again. What mafe him did all those kilings?

Walter Sickert as convinced by the novel ( no offense to Sickert's fans...and please don't judge me for being shallow believing in a novel)... again sickert as convinced by the novel was Jack the Ripper, Jack the Ripper was walter Sickert, yeah i made my point already. Jack the Ripper - The madman in the 18th Century killing fiasco in London was a true blooded artist. Yes, an artist by profession and by heart. Among Sickert's works were the "Ennui" (with 5 versions),
Nuit d’été (“Summer Night”), Patrol, Jack the Ripper's Bedroom. He was Patronized by many including the Queen Elizabeth.

His artworks are so full of detailed emotions and are well made, brilliant they say, and so his killings too. The finest detective in his time gave up in solving his doings (alleged) yes, they never discovered the culprit for those devilish killings. And no one in that time ever suspected the brilliant Sickert. He had many personas, and had an amazing ability to write in many hands, that was why police didn't discovered that it was the known artist who wrote those "ripper" letters (based on the researh of Ms. Cornwell).

What was in his mind? Can an artist really create such debacle? Why not? Anyway artists in general are known for their meandering temperaments.

Did he ever knew love? Of course? That's why he married four women in his life time, he loved women, like most male artists do. Though it was also women that Jack the Ripper loved to murder and mutilate, probably because he was afraid that these women might have mocked his penile deformity. Oh! Just read the book!

It's not too late to read it! It's worth reading.

The novel made me realize how someone can cover his/ her imperfection/s even in a worst possible way. Sickert was almost perfect. Almost. Too bad he's a psychopath. I would have been one of his fans.

HOW GREAT LEADERS RECOGNIZE A PROBLEM

Can you recognize a problem before it becomes an emergency? According to John Maxwell in his book Developing the Leader Within You, great leaders usually recognize a problem in the following sequence:
  1. They sense it before they see it - that is what you call intuition. Hindi pa man nangyayari medyo kinukutuban na, mayroong gut feel and they pay attention to their gut feel.
  2. They begin looking for it and they ask questions - yan ang curiosity.
  3. They do not simply rely on intuition or curiosity, they gather data - iyan ang tinatawag na processing. They start to process the information that they have gathered prompted by their curiosity and intuition.
  4. They share their feelings and findings to a few trusted colleagues - that is what you call communicating.
  5. They define the problem and they do not just verbalize it, they write it.
  6. They check their resources and that is evaluating.
  7. They make a decision - that is leading.
Under the leadership of great men and women, problems do not reach their gigantic proportions. Why? Because at the problems are detected at an early stage and given immediate actions. John Maxwell said, “Great leaders are seldom blindsided. They realize that the punch that knocks them out is seldom the hard one. It is the one they did not see coming.” Therefore, it is always important to look for signs and indicators that will give you insight into the problem ahead.

5 TRAITS OF SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE

To start off a brand new work week, let me share with you the five secrets of a successful person.
  1. Consciousness of an honest purpose in life.
  2. Adjust estimate of one’s self and everyone else. In other words, he knows himself, he sees himself as God sees him.
  3. Frequent self-examinations. A successful person takes time to evaluate himself.
  4. Steady obedience to what one knows to be right.
  5. Indifference to what others may think or say. The only opinion that truly matters to this person is God’s opinion of him.
The tips that I shared with you today are from the book “Lists To Live By: The Third Collection.”

Be a blessing in the workplace today.

10 RULES FOR DELEGATION

AWe know that delegation is important if we we want to train leaders for the company. We also know that delegation helps us manage our time wisely. Question is, do you delegate? Here are the tips on how to delegate successfully. “Smart Moves” 10 rules for delegation:
  1. Make sure the employee has the skill, talent and ability to perform the job. Do not delegate a job destined to result in failure or frustration.
  2. Check with your boss. Unless you have been given complete discretion in this matter, be certain the boss agrees to your giving up a particular responsibility.
  3. Delegate not only the menial unimportant jobs but also the significant ones. Kasi iisipan ng mga tao, if you delegate important responsibilities you are communicating to the person, that you trust the person, you value his or her judgment and they have the ability to do what you ask them to do. Employees will see this as a vote of confidence.
  4. Make sure subordinates clearly understand the task. Have your subordinate describe what they think you want them to accomplish.
  5. Allow the subordinate latitude in how the job should be performed. Your way is not the only way. Tel this to yourself - “My way is not the only way.” However, if there are rules or constraints which must be followed make sure you communicate them.
  6. Provide all the resources necessary to perform the job. If you are going to delegate also provide the necessary help.
  7. Remain accessible. Always provide a safety net for the subordinate. Be available but do not engage in over-the-shoulder surveillance o micromanage.
  8. If the job is performed well, praise the subordinate.
  9. If the job is not performed well, tell your subordinate how to improve.
  10. Delegate often because everyone wins in that situation. You are able to multiply yourself, you are able to manage your time well, and you are able to train future leaders for your company.
Be a blessing in the workplace today.
